Now is the time to stop talking and start making stuff.
— Ian Fenton, New Creatives North

New Creatives North is an exciting talent development scheme that offers opportunities for creators to be mentored by experienced artists to make new artistic works in film, audio or interactive media, designed for BBC channels and platforms.

New Creatives is co-funded by Arts Council England and BBC Arts, Tyneside Cinema are leading the programme in the North of England, where we will support artists aged 16 to 30 to bring to their original ideas to life through film, audio or interactive artworks.

Round 1 and 2 are complete and creatives selected.

Round 3 is now open, with a deadline of 13 December, find out more by reading our Apply page.

Submit your idea to New Creatives North, you never know where it might take you.

We are looking for creative people between the ages of 16-30 with great ideas and a drive to develop their original concept into a professional short film, audio or interactive media work. We will provide training to give you the skills you need to bring your idea to life and get it seen by audiences.

Applicants can come from any artistic disciplines: they could be writers, sound artists, podcasters, dancers, performers, musicians, filmmakers, comedians, visual artists, illustrators, animators, poets, storytellers, games designers; or they could be something else entirely.

Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, so long as you are passionate about your idea and how you want to explore it creatively, we want to hear from you. New Creatives will be commissioning 18 films, 30 audio pieces and 2 interactive works in 2019 and we’re really looking to find creators and makers who have not yet been represented on screen, air or online before.
